I do believe Alistair that you were the one who told me about school boys making the needles in woodwork classes... can't check because the gremlins have played havoc with my inbox folders and the one relating to that book has disappeared into the ether.... very frustrating! I included it in reference to the whole community being involved in the war effort, it was a snippet of information that I didn't know... all I knew re the involvement of children was growing vegetables where possible and that was in my home town in country Yorkshire, well away from the big centres which were subject to bombing raids. YES it was in Woodwork class Eastwood NSW Superprimary. At Eastwood we had an active large anti-aircraft gun beside the rail station, WW2. You have PC gremlins, such gremlins roam my Grey Matter.
