Hello Listers Just wanting to know if the old format of FamilySearch is available anywhere. I really find the new cool version is lacking in a lot of ways and I would like to access the old format (Preferably online). Much of the information I got from previous searches is no longer in the new FamilySearch. Thank you Verna

Hello Verna This is a message from familysearch in February 2012, it appears the link goes to the new site, so the old one has gone forever - Regards Alan We've heard from many of you telling us that the link to the Classic FamilySearch site no longer appears on the home page. This was not intentional and we apologize for the premature removal of this link. However, after careful consideration we've decided not to replace it. The reason for this is because in the very near future, we will remove the Classic FamilySearch site entirely. When that happens, the link to that site will no longer be needed. The shutdown of the Classic FamilySearch site will take place after we have completed the addition of some of our improved and new site features. We also need to finish transferring all of our data to the new site. Until we make that move, you can still get to the Classic FamilySearch by typing classic.familysearch.org.

Verna I had exactly the same experience with the new Family Search site and was supported in this opinion by many on lists over here in England. I was encouraged to email Familysearch and protest which I did, but all I got back was a message to say 'keep at it and you'll find in time it's much better than the old set-up'. Worse still, I don't think you can access the old format anywhere now!
