Dear Laraine, When I worked at Lidcombe in the 1960's Lidcombe State Hospital was at towards the end of use as that facility. It is now part of one of the Universities, I think. Unless other members of the family were wealthy, it is not likely that there would have been sufficient money for extensive headstones in his estate, if indeed there was one at all. It was one step up from sleeping on the streets at that time. Many residents were "reformed" alcoholics. On Pension Day it was not unusual for some to find their way to a pub at either Lidcombe or Auburn. Joseph Street, Lidcombe runs from the railway line towards Yagoona, changing name where the Regents Park railway spur crosses Joseph Street. In those times was a one lane each way half goat track. Now a four, maybe six lane highway. More than one "resident" tangled with a car on the way back, some with fatal results. I did obtain a card for an inmate of Lidcombe from State Records, but I am not sure how extensive their holdings are. Remember each religious denomination has an office at Rookwood separately to one another. The Independent Section I think has a website.
