I have a lot of fiche AND 2 fiche readers . I meant to refer more to the type of technology . Some of these fiche I bought 20 years ago and fiche dont often get scratched! or just die like the odd CD can . I have been getting recorded books from my local library for a family member for a long time . He preferred the ones on cassette tape. When last there earlier this week I noticed all the taped books had been removed from the shelves Were CDs, MP3's and a tiny matchbox sized gizmo that uses AAA batteries. and still LOTS of real books. Its the same with at least the NSW BDM indexes . Marriages and deaths after 1945 are 'on line' with no publically accessible hard copy Its still a worry Bye MargM Sydney List Admin
