Hello Listers, I am looking for information on my g/grandfather William BELL. According to a memorial notice he was born in Sydney on 29th. November 1840 and educated at St. James's School. His parents are believed to be William John BELL and Mary ?. I have no other records about William and his parents so I am hoping there may be a possible reference on his school records.(Unfortunately I don't know which St. James school he attended. If William John Bell went to St James School in the centre of Sydney there could be a small amount of information about his being there in an "exercise book history" called "The Georgian School". It was compiled by Miss F.E.Osburne-Lilly and is in the Aus Genealogy Society's library. In a family tree in this ex book a Bell family are mentioned, including Dr James Oliphant Bell who married the dau of Rev William Ward), and his family. There is a son, William, Captain of the family-owned ship "Cockermouth/ Cockermonth" .
