I did volunteer transcription for the Mariners site, transcribing passenger lists, for a couple of years. That is ALL volunteer work, and what a pleasure it was. If that can be done under the watchful eye of a dedicated 'overseer' at no cost, imagine what could be done by volunteers to other sorts of records. Someone should try it!!! C'mon NSW BDM's!!! Six years ago I discovered mistakes in how my grandmother's death is recorded in NSW BDM and notified them of the details. They have still not been corrected. Perhaps they do not have sufficient staff to get it done or maybe they aren't sufficiently interested.
