Would anyone be able to suggest what sort of machine or work this might involve? Matilda's father had been a soldier in the 99th and 12th Regiments and Matilda had travelled around Australia to his various postings until her parents were posted to NZ in 1863 and Matilda, then 19, remainded behind in Sydney.
