Hi listers I found an interesting website this evening - one I've never heard of before and that may be of interest to some of us genies. It's called "People's Voice", subtitled "Australian Community History Online". It says "Discover our communities' stories" - self explanatory. The address is:- http://peoplesvoice.gov.au/menuf.html - go to the About page for more details. If you click on a state (on the map) it shows a list of towns, some of which have links to info (community stories). It looks like they don't have a real lot of info on it as yet - perhaps some of us will be able to assist?? Hope it's of help to some of you. Give it a go! Best wishes Judy
Thanks for pointing out this site, it is as you describe it, very much under construction. Noticeably missing is anything from the Sydney area. Whilst we have the marriages, baptisms and funerals for St. Peters Anglican Church Cooks River on a data base, we are very interested in our local history, and our recently published 'Stanley,' a young man's colonial experience is a good source of not only that but of people in the 1870's in the eastern states of Australia. Once again thank you , Bob and Laurel Horton, St. Peters Cooks River History Group.
