    1. [ANS] Footy grounds with memorials to soldiers
    2. Hi Listers, I'm assisting on a project that intends to write about communities and the ways they supported their football clubs. One interesting thing we are chasing is that some communities built grandstands (or pavilions) in honour of their war volunteers (any war will do but particularly World War One). We have found the Soldiers & Sailors pavilion at Port Fairy, the soldiers reserve & pavilion in Warracknabeal & a memorial grandstand at Port Pirie. Do listers know of any other such memorials? We are not interested in your typical granite memorial with names even if it is within a football ground or showground. We're really looking for a way that comunity facilities were enhanced with the use of money raised in honour of war volunteers. Of course there are also bandstands dedicated to band members who enlisted but the focus is the development of country football. Any help greatly appreciated. best wishes, Jenny Coates Melbourne's Unemployed in the 1890s http://home.primusonline.com.au/jennyc/Melbourne/ ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL.
