    3. Morning Jenny and all According to the NSW BDM Index there is only one John OVENS who died in 1825. Are you sure this isn't him? He married Georgina Green who died a few months after their marriage in 1830 - she was buried in Devonshire Street Cemetery and the grave is now in Botany Cemetery. I am interested in if he remarried, when he died, and any information about his life. ..· ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´*.` Jenny McCarthy Brightwaters N.S.W. on beautiful Lake Macquarie ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AUS-NSW-SYDNEY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message -- No virus found in this incoming message. 3. The John Ovens who died in 1825 was Major John Ovens after whom the Ovens river in Victoria is named. Part of the final paragraph in the 'Australian Dictionary of Biography' article on him reads "Several writers have confused Major Ovens with Lieutenant John Ovens, also in the 57th regiment at that time. Georgina Ovens was the wife of the lieutenant, and not of the major, who divided his estate among his brothers and sister." The footnote reads: HRA (1) 11-15; Sydney Gazette, 13Dec. 1825; Truth (Syd), 4 July 1909; Army Lists, 1821-25. The article was written by E.W. Dunlop.I think this can be found on the internet.
