    3. Dear Rod, I have two suggestions as starting points for your Redfern Pub Crawl <<grin>>. Perhaps this group may have some history buffs as well as imbibers at: http://www.sydneypubguide.net/ On a more academic note, over the last 80 or so years there were various council merged and now form the City of Sydney Council. The archives for Redfern mentioned here: http://tinyurl.com/ymbrah It says ................ Non-current records created by municipal councils absorbed by the City of Sydney at different times. These include: Camperdown (1862-1908) absorbed in 1908; Alexandria (1868- 1948), Darlington (1864-1948), Macdonaldtown/Erskineville (1872- 1948), Glebe (1859-1948), Newtown (1862-1948), Redfern (1859-1948), Paddington (1860-1948) and Waterloo (1860-1948) absorbed in 1949, Northcott/South Sydney Municipal Council (1968-1981); and South Sydney City Council (1989-2004). To contact the archives, see this page: http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/ContactUs.asp At a bare minimum the archives will have the council rates books, but might also have some early photos or sketches and other correspondence. Hope this will provide some kind of starting point for you. 3. Dear Christene, Since 1908, there were various council merged and now form the City of Sydney Council. The archives for Camperdown are mentioned here: http://tinyurl.com/ymbrah It says ................ Another Historical project. Newtown project: http://www.sydneyarchives.info/default.html search for McGrath......... Michael is mentioned.......... Much of your Camperdown / Kingston features are in the maps section above. You will also find many other Camperdown resources scattered throughout the Newtown pages.
