I've travelled on the Indian Pacific between Sydney and Adelaide a few times and it is a great train, being a pensioner I had free travel within NSW but paid from Broken Hill to Adelaide and upgraded from 2nd class to 1st class, this cost about $300, return trip, but was well worth the expense as sleeping accommodation (single room with toilet) was included as were meals, which had to be paid for in 2nd class. The meals were wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the train. Wish I could afford the trip through to Perth but that is beyond my purse.
