Hi Colleen, there exist a wealth of police records with the earliest starting around 1830 with the 'Blue Books'. Google in NSW state records and on their homepage click on index and put in P for police and from there you'll be able to learn about the documents you're after. Some records may be held in the city (like the gazettes) others may be held in Kingswood at the State Records office. Some of the indexes on the state records homepage allows you to enter in a surname and get details of constables, victims and criminals. There exist plenty photos in the archives relating to crime.
