Hello, I am researching the name TURNELL - my g.grandmother Elizabeth (Young) PERRY and her first husband, William PERRY, had a daughter, Elizabeth b.23.7.1866, 'Wivenhoe', Cobbitty NSW. She married Richard TURNELL b.Bethnal Green, England in 1859 to Richard Turnell & Elizabeth Ann HOLMER,on 14th March 1885. Witnesses to the marriage; William NERRIN & Elizabeth JONES. Richard & Elizabeth had three children, Richard St. Johns Turnell, b. Petersham 6.10.1885: Ida St. Johns Turnell, b. Camperdown 4.1.1890, d. 1891: Leslie St. Johns Turnell, b.12.3.1892, Drummoyne. Known addresses: 1885 Print St., Woolloomoolloo: Little Palmer Street, Sydney. Middle Street, Petersham. "Fortuna", Renwick Street, Drummoyne. 5 Bedford Crescent, Marrickville. Also business address of TURNELL & BARBER. Contractors. c. 1915-1917 Elizabeth was living at 92 York St., Westminster, SW London. England. 1927 Richard's occupation was Building Contractor, residing 204 Military Road, Cremorne: 1932-3 resided at 66 Grosvenor Street, Cremorne. According the AIF WW1 records of Richard's brother-in-law, James John Jones, also known as James John Black (from Elizabeth Perry's 2nd marriage toWm. Henry JONES) he served his apprenticeship with Richard TURNELL at Camperdown. Elizabeth died on 10th June 1928, Burilda Private Hospital, Ashfield, buried 11.6.1928 Nthn. Suburbs Church of England Cemetery (now Macquarie Gardens, Delhi Rd., North Ryde) Informant - son - Richad St.J. Turnell, 204 Military Road, Neutral Bay. NSW.
