Hi Listers I am trying to trace the parents of Joseph Madden ! According to family lore he was born in Glebe in about 1857 his mother's name was Maria but his father is unknown. Also according to family lore he emigrated with 2 of his brothers so as i am sure you can imagine I am confused What i know is that Joseph Madden married Matilda Burridge in 1886 in Sydney. I can trace their descendants including Roy Madden their grandson but I am having difficulty going further back. I have 2 Maria Maddens that died fairly early in the 19th century I died in 1902 and according to the death certificate her parents and spouse and children are unknown 'I also found a Maria Madden that was a widow of Francis, she had 16 children, but, not all of them appear to have been registered. So Joseph could have been hers and as Francis died well before he did that could explain why no father was listed on the death certificate. If any one know anything about the Joseph MADDEN that married Matilda BURRIDGE or their descendants i would love to hear from you Regards Barb
