    3. Dear Listers I dont usually have any hassle finding info from the Sands PO Dirs fiche , but did today Was trying to find either a Mrs JOHNSON or maybe both Mr & Mrs who lived at Kirribilli Ave/ Street, Kirribilli, c 1919 - 1922 , via the street indexes section around page # 510 . Try as I might I couldnt find this street at all . Would come under North Sydney. Are that many JOHNSONs in the alpha section that I thought this would be a quicker way ...... Seemed like a good idea at the time :-) I dont think this street appeared after the opening of the Bridge ? Did it have an earlier name ??? Thanks Bye MargM Sydney List Admin

    3. Hi Marg, Kirribilli Avenue is still there. At the eastern end is Kirribilli House which is the Sydney residence of our esteemed Prime Minister and the western end finished at Broughton Street which is adjacent to the Harbour Bridge. It is a reasonably long street comprising of home unit blocks. The only single dwelling in recent years is (or was) no.51 which is (was) owned by the Waterhouse family of bookmaking fame. Probably the best way to gain the info you want is to consult the electoral rolls either at Mitchell or North Sydney Libraries. 3. Hi Marg, from http://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/www/html/3825-heritage-databases.asp Kirribilli Street : Formerly known as CAMPBELL STREET after Sydney merchant Robert Campbell, who had acquired Robert Ryan's early land grant in the area. "Kirribilli " comes from the Aboriginal word "Kiarabilli" meaning `a good fishing spot'. Campbell Street : Now known as KIRRIBILLI AVENUE, it was named after Sydney Merchant, Robert Campbell, who acquired Robert Ryan's original land grant of 1800.
