Hi all I am new to the list. Is there such a thing as a Directory of Hotels/Publicans for NSW 1830's? I am interested in the Mountaineer Hotel, Emu Plains from 1837. Thank you Ann Cairns,Qld

Dear Ann, I don't know if it goes that far back, but Publicans have had to renew their licence annually and that renewal is published in the Government Gazette, mostly around August, pages of them each set out in the Liquor Licensing District. There are butts of licences on reel ( I think) at State Records. Go to www.records.nsw.gov.au and look for Archives in Brief 61. They are information sheets and that one is on Publicans Licenses.
