Hi Helen As you undoubtedly know the Hylands were a well known family in the Balmain area (maybe still are) I have written a history of the now disappeared Balmain Catholic cemetery and am trying to re-create the also long lost burial register and there are quite few Hylands believed to have been buried there, so here's what I have, the story of how the land for the cemetery was acquired is somewhat a mystery but when the land was finally registered to the Catholic church in January 1869, one of the four Trustees was Michael Hyland publican of Balmain What follows is a list of those believed or known to have been buried in this cemetery and any help you are able to provide to add to what I have, especially date of death would be most gratefully receieved John Hyland date of death unknown aged approx. 26 James Hyland died 1871 parents thought to be Michael & Ann Michael Hyland died 1873 parents Michael and Ann Michael Hyland Died 13 June 1879 buried 15 June 1879 Edward J Hyland died 1883 parents Michael and Ann Patrick Hyland died 6 April 1887 buried 7 April 1887 Mathias Hyland died 8 June 1894 buried 9 June 1894 Where I show a date of death and burial I have confirmed that person was buried in the Balmain Catholic cemetery I look forward to hearing from you Patrick Callaghan From: Helen T To: pca96504@bigpond.net.au Sent: Monday, March 05, 2007 7:10 PM Subject: Hyland Hi Patrick, You said on the Sydney list: Is anyone researching this family?
