Good evening list, I have just received a copy of the death registration for my gt aunt, Clara WILLIAMSON. She died 13 November 1932 at her residence, 33 Murray Street Croyden, in the municipality of Burwood and was buried in the Church of England Cemetery, Rookwood. I would like to know if there headstone inscriptions available for this cemetery, or if anyone could have a look for me and maybe photograph any headstone that might be there. It seems that Clara had only one son, Alexander, who was an architect in Sydney. It's also possible that he never married, but until I send for his death reg, I won't know. Does anyone have any knowledge of this family, please? Many thanks for your time Ailsa Petrie Hamilton New Zealand
Hi Ailsa, Do you know when Alexander died and how old he was as there's an Alexander Williamson buried at Rookwood who died in 1980 aged 77. Could this be him? Hi Ailsa As Alison says no headstone but she did leave a will , so should be a probate packet and deceased estate file out at State Records, Kingswood , ref # 186005 Where was Alexander born and where died ? Cant see any ref in NSW records Bye MargM Sydney List Admin
Hello Marg, Thank you for your reply. Alexander was born in Greymouth, New Zealand in 1899 and I think the family moved to Sydney about 1901. The BMD index entry I saw gives his death as 1955, district Ashfield. I will be sending for the registration details to confirm that he is the correct person, although I feel sure he is as the parents' names on the index match. Can you tell me how to go about getting the probate record, please? This is my first foray into researching in New South Wales.
