I have been trying to find the details of a inquest from 17 April 1824 Sydney for a still born female child; parents I believe were Sarah and Edward Hutton with witnesses Mary Bevett and Esther Dalton. I have just read that ancestry has added inquest records 1796-1942 for NSW; just wondering if the above inquested is listed please in the index? Karen
Dear Karen, Files relating to Inquests in that era have "not survived" in the main. Inquests, which became Murder Charges "may" be still in existance. Papers that have survived are held by State Records, Kingswood, and the help sheet, Archives in Brief No. 4 will be found on their website www.records.nsw.gov.au by using that word in their alphabetical index. In reality for a still born child there would have been little "paper work", when comparing an Inquest for some form of accident in a public place where there were possibly many witnesses. Sincerely, Bill > I have been trying to find the details of a inquest from 17 April 1824 > Sydney for a still born female child; parents I believe were Sarah > and Edward Hutton with witnesses Mary Bevett and Esther Dalton. >
