I found NAA also has a naturalisation record of both him and his father, the latter very informative - and NSW BDM using the names I found as a guide has given me more. I can recommend naturalisation files as a very helpful source. Trove has yielded a lot now that I know to search for Lazarus not Laz. I'll follow up the other archive suggestions but hoped too to find out something about the man - other than the sort of detail in the ASIO type file. Probably most who remembered him are no longer alive but perhaps somewhere he has left a non official imprint.
