    1. [ANS] DEATHS AT SEA
    2. Hi Listers, Can anyone please tell me where I may look for Deaths at Sea between 1851 and 1866? Would these include passengers to Victoria before the beginning of Stae Registration there? Peter Melbourne

    3. Peter, you wrote > Hi Listers, > Can anyone please tell me where I may look for Deaths at Sea between 1851 > and 1866? I have half an answer which may help! An immigrant babe bn 1854 on ship KENT "near Albany" heading for Melbourne, had his birth registered in Victoria and ALSO in England, being aboard a British ship at sea. 13 Oct 1854 Marine Register Book of Births entry #163M refers. Ship was at "lat 42 deg s, long 120 deg e". Ship's Masters were obliged to make formal records of B, M, D aboard. "see also 132/55" which is in VIC index as CWOOD ie Collingwood, birth reg there 1855. So Deaths on British ships would also be registered I assume. Cheers, ALISTAIR
