    3. Thanks to all who have replied to me on and off list. Manly Grammar was a private girls' school run by Principal Miss Strachan. She was seeking accommodation away from the coast late 1941- early 42 as did SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Shore, Cranbrook, St Vincent's etc in the Blue Mountains. The school was operational in Manly in 1941. >> My husband was in its first enrolment of pupils when it opened c 1951 >> I have a copy of I thinks it a 50 year aniversary booklet >> .......somewhere I am not confused with that school - my husband taught there in 1953 > if its premises were requisitoned as the Far West Children' s >> facility was > > Never heard of that happening.................. That is still in Manly The Drummond Far West home was requisitioned for use by the Women's Army. In return the army requisitioned a large property, Rothesay, in Springwood. It was some distance from the station and difficult to get children to the station to travel for Sydney for specialist appointments etc. Far West then bought a property near the station and occupied in until Feb. 1944 when Drummond Home was handed back.
