Hi again Anton With the great help from Jenny W looks like this puzzle has been solved............... Thomas REYNOLDS came here as a soldier, in 1854 with the 12th Regiment of Foot, East Suffolk . I suspect he resigned c mid 1860's as this regiment was eventually sent to India. Both daughters births found in the GRO Regimental births in Findmypast . Incidentally via a thorough search on the NSW births indexes there is birth of an Ann REYNOLDS to Thomas & Ann 1858, Paddington and a 1863 birth of an unnamed chid to Thomas & Ann, Paddington. Paddington is an eastern Sydney suburb and the location of Victorian Army Barracks In the 1871 UK census Thomas REYNOLDS was an inn keeper of the Grand Junction Hotel, Nantwich, Cheshire with wife Ann, b Ireland and Jane ( aka Sarah Jane) ,8, b Australia Hopefully the UK Archives will have more info on this bloke.
