    3. Dear List Members, I am researching a family by the name of CARR who arrived in NSW between 1863 and 1874 from Tipperary in Ireland. I know that this is a long email but I hope that you will bear with me. They are: John b.c. 1842 (1863 per Fairlie) Catherine b.c.1845 (1874 per Samuel Plimsoll) James b.c.1848 (1866 per Peerless) Mary b.c.1851 (1874 per Samuel Plimsoll) Denis b.c. 1855 (1874 per Samuel Plimsoll) Margaret b.c.1858 (1874 per Samuel Plimsoll) Bridget b.c.1861 (1874 per Samuel Plimsoll) I am trying to confirm whether in fact this is the family of my Catherine CARR born circa 1845 in Tipperary and who arrived in New Zealand c. 1875. I have researched this family for a couple of years and while I have been able to locate all of the other siblings in Sydney and NSW I have been unable to locate Catherine past her arrival in 1874. The boys John, James and Denis settled in the Northern Rivers area of NSW while sisters - Mary, Margaret and Bridget lived in Sydney. Mary married Thomas GILBERT Margaret married Edward HANLON Bridget married William Thomas YATES These sisters are all buried in Rookwood Catholic Cemetery. Mary and Thomas GILBERT had a son Harry b.c. 1888 who died in 1971. Harry had a daughter Marjory or Margery who married a McNAMARA and who died in 1982. Margaret HANLON died in 1896. A William B HANLON was born in this year to an Edward and Margaret so Margaret possibly died either in childbirth or soon after. There may also have been a daughter Isabella b. 1882 and a son Francis b. 1894. Due to the gap in ages I suspect that there are other children. A Thomas J. HANLAN was born in 1884 and a Catherine M. HANLON was born in 1886 whose father was recorded as Esward. Bridget and William YATES possibly had five surviving children: William, Thomas, Amelia, Catherine and Alice. Alice died unmarried while Amelia married Victor CONST and Catherine married her cousin Edward CARR. The death notice of Bridget in the Sydney Morning Herald of 22 September 1928 also names a Mr and Mrs Daniel BARRETT. The address for Bridget given in the funeral notice is 10 Garnet's Ave, Marrickville. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has information about these people or is in anyway connected. As regards Catherine, the NSW online death indexes has nine deaths for a Catherine CARR between 1874 and 1950 although none of them is a match. There are four marriages for the period 1874 to 1900. They are: Registration Number Groom's Surname Groom's Given Name(s) Bride's Last Name Bride's Given Name(s) District * at Time of Marriage 3024/1874 SHERINGHAM CHARLES N CARR CATHERINE MUDGEE 5162/1881 MORGAN EDWARD CARR CATHERINE WALGETT 6107/1882 MACCLUAND JOHN CARR CATHERINE WALCHA 6107/1882 MCCLUAND JOHN CARR CATHERINE WALCHA 158/1888 RODGERS JAMES CARR CATHERINE SYDNEY I have managed to rule out the Catherine CARR married in Walcha. A search of the internet reveals a tree giving this person's parents as Thomas CARR and Catherine MOFFATT and a birth year of 1860. Similarly the Catherine CARR who married Charles SHERINGHAM was born in 1856. If anyone can help me with the marriage to Edward MORGAN or James RODGERS it would be appreciated. Thanks for your help. Regards, Christine
