    3. Hello, I am hoping someone can help provide information or guidance with my search on Christopher Marsh.  An obituary in the Sydney Morning Herald 23 Nov 1867 reads "On the 11th instance, at his residence, Camperdown Road, Mr Christopher Marsh, late of Rose Bay, after a long and painful illness, leaving an affectionate wife to mourn her irreparable loss.  His end was peace. Yorkshire and Leeds papers please copy" . A similar announcement with burial information appears in the Sydney Morning Herald 12 Sept 1867 so am believing his death was really on the 11 of September. In the Sydney Morning Herald, 6 Aug 1870, there appears a notice of marriage that reads "on the 29th of January 1870 at his residence, 41, Barton Street, South Head Road ---- Mr John Small of Ashfield, to Ellen, widow of the late Mr Christopher Marsh of Bourke-Street".  This is the first reference to Christopher being married and am wondering if Ellen might be the wife of my Christopher.  From what I can gather, (from transport records) there weren't too many "Christopher Marsh" at  the time.  Would there be marriage records kept that might have any further information? Thank you for any help, Scott B Canada

    3. Hi Scott On NSW BDM index www.bdm.nsw.gov.au , there is no record of a marriage for John Small in 1870. However there is a record of a marriage for Christopher Marsh to Ellen Almond in Sydney in 1862 873/1862 MARSH CHRISTOPHER ALMOND ELLEN SYDNEY Then there is a record of his death in 1867 2377/1867 MARSH CHRISTOPHER AGE 53 YEARS DIED NEWTOWN NEWTOWN >From the death certificate (or a transcription which is cheaper) you should get details as to whether his wife was Ellen, but it looks likely. Good luck Lyn Sydney I am hoping someone can help provide information or guidance with my search on Christopher Marsh.
