Hello List, I am trying to trace the whereabouts of a nephew of my GG Aunt whom died in 1952. On her death certificate it states: Charlotte Julia Street died 17th May 1952 at Craigiebuin Private Hospital 60 Alice Street Lakemba. Her residential address was 31 Hamilton Street Lane Cove. The informant was a A. F Taylor Nephew also of 31 Hamilton Street Lane Cove. As this was 1952 I am assuming that he has passed away and family are no longer at this address (I have searched the phone book to no avail) I was wondering if anyone lives in the vicinity of this address would be able to visit and find out if they know of this family whom lived there back in 1952. My GG Aunt was only in Australia for 2yrs having travelled from British India. She was 81yrs of age when she died. This family name is not known to us so am assuming its a nephew from her late husbands side. I would be grateful if someone could help me in this as being in New Zealand I am unable to do this myself. Thanking you Karen New Zealand
Dear Karen, Have you checked www.ryersonindex.org which contains 2.75 million entries, mainly death information from newspapers? You would probably need more than the initials to find him there though. She left a Will, the subject of Probate, and documents are readily available at State Records. KINGSWOOD. You will need to quote 392807 in Series 4. It could well be that A F TAYLOR was the Executor, and as such he would have made an Affidavit in this Probate Packet, which will give his full name. That will tell you who the beneficiaries of her estate were, highly probable that they would be relatives. State Records, www.records.nsw.gov.au have a copying service, or there are a couple of agents who will look and copy the file for you. If you want to know more about Probate Packets on that website look at Archives in Brief No. 84, a help sheet. Hello List members, Can someone point me in the right direction. I am trying to find the website for passengers arriving into Sydney in 1950 from India. My GG Aunt Charlotte Street arrived in Australia in 1950. I believe also that her brother Albert Pyster accompainied her on the trip and after a few months he left for England. I was also wondering if the Taylor's whom she was living with also travelled out from there. Thats a wild guess but if I can find any records I would be able to search. Many thanks Karen New Zealand

Found an Edward PYSTER on the Strathaird from Sydney to London dep 9 Apr 1951. Last country of residence India in Ancestrys UK passenger arrivals Nearly all the passengers on that page had been resident in India Are a couple of PYSTERs in the NAA incoming passengers to Australia http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch/index.aspx no Albert I tried a search for PYSTER in the SMH http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper but nothing popped out Not game to try STREET . Suggest again you get transcriptions of Joseph PAYNE and Alfred Francis TAYLORs death certs and see what info these have . You should then have a few facts to work with instead of guesses ! http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/howToTraceYouFamTree.htm#TranscriptionAgent bye MargM Sydney List Admin
Dear Karen, National Archives have looked after immigration since Federation, although they took about 20 years to take over from the State Government. www.naa.gov.au is their website.
