    1. [ANS] FINDING LOST ANCESTORS-LYNCHEY or LYNCH
    2. Peter STRAUSS
    3. I am seeking any information that may be out there about two siblings of my GG grandmother, Sarah LYNCHEY or LYNCH, who accompanied their convict mother, Sarah LYNCHEY or LYNCH, from the Isle of Man to Sydney in 1835 on the Mary III. I have found some hints as to the names of these two children, a girl possibly Sarah, aged probably 10 years but no older than 12 years (the maximum age the British Government allowed for girls to accompany a convict mother), and a boy possibly James, aged no more than 8 years (the maximum for boys). Ten years of trying on RootsWebb Convict Lists has brought not one response. This is long enough ago for origins to be fuzzy, let alone the "forgetting" that arose from the fear of the convict stain which prevailed until WW II. Any response will be much appreciated. 3. Thanks I might have my wires crossed then. I thought I read that in a book I recently got when I did a tour of Cockatoo Island. As a young girl I dated the Manager's son, and he often used to push me in to the old convict cells just to frighten me. 3. Hi again Bill; > You should get that information from the National Archives website. That may be so, but; it isn't the easiest of sites to navigate and although I've tried; I cannot find the ship I am seeking. From what I understand: the "S.S. New Australia" departed Southampton 2 Nov 1955 for Australia and arrived Sydney 4 Dec 1955?, but; I couldn't find reference to the "S. S. New Australia" on the National Archives site. I thought I would find the ship arriving on TROVE, but as yet; haven't done so. Regards: Robert KEMSLEY

    3. Hi all To add to your conversation re orphaned boys, there were two ships permanently docked off Cockatoo Island in Sydney. One was the Sobrian and I can't remember the name of the other one. They were like schools for the boys. Training ships I think they were called. We moved three years ago, and a lot of my genealogy stuff is still in storage because we moved in to a unit. otherwise I could dig out more info for you. I had thought that my great grandfather might have been one of the boys, but didn't find anything on him. 3. I am researching my Gibbs family who were living in Darlington and Redfern in the late 1800s. Frederick Gibbs died in 1890. I have been looking for the death of his wife Mary Gibbs and cannot find anything. I have found a marriage of Mary Gibbs to Robert Warren and wondered if it might be my Mary Gibbs. If anyone is connected to the Warren family who seemed to have moved to Balmain in the early 1900s I would love to hear from them. Kaye Vernon www.teapotgenealogy.com

    2. Mary Cunningham
    3. Hi all I can still remember the face of the nurse who held my hand all the way down to the theatre in 1968, when I was a child about to have major surgery on my knees. Remember in those days nurses trained in hospitals, so I would contact the local hospital for Enmore and ask them about staff lists. I got the medical notes from my six month stay in hospital, so records are kept. God bless those who choose to keep them. I was in the Royal Alexandria Hospital for children at Camperdown, and they had a huge nurses quarters on site. Perhaps they only made the nursing students live onsite, as they would have been aged 15 and up. Your Nurse Brown may have been an older and more qualified nurse so was allowed to live off site. Just a thought. Mary Cunningham On 22/06/2012, at 6:20 PM, "KEMSLEY, Robert N.
