Dear Robert, I thought the NSW Probate Index fiche went to 1984, but they may have released more. Up to 1952 they are in batches of about 10 years, after the initial lot of 1800 to 1900. Gradually they are being added to www.records.nsw.gov.au website and not so long back a huge batch of Probate Packets were released taking it up to about 1965 now. At lot of libraries with family history information have them, and Gosford, I think is one such library. The FHS there would also have them. Good afternoon Lorette: Yes; it would seem you've found the missing "Nurse Elvy BROWN" who did indeed; live in the Redfern area for some years and I thank you ever so very much for this great find, as I've wondered what happened to her since I lived with her quite some years back now. It explains what happened to her and where her final resting place is. Thank you ever so very much. Hi Robert Have you tried searching the NSW Probate microfiche which go up to 1992. Also, you could try contacting CSU to see what information they have on Elvy Brown. Considering they offer the Scholarship surely they must have information on her. Shirlee Wellington, NZ ----- Original Message ----- From: "KEMSLEY, Robert N. Good morning Shirlee: I had to go back and re-read Marg's message; finding there was quite a deal of info therein, which needed following up on. I am not 100% sure at this stage, but it would seem the BROWN b) 1912 is the one I am seeking and it would also seem the parents of have also been found. I haven't access to the NSW Probate Microfiche, but will try and follow up on. I will also try and contact CSU in the hope they may be able to further my research? Many Thanks: Robert KEMSLEY Australia > Have you tried searching the NSW Probate microfiche which go up to 1992. > Also, you could try contacting CSU to see what information they have on > Elvy > Brown. Good morning Marg: I had to go back and re-read your previous message and there is quite a wealth of information therein and leads to further research. The birth you found in 1912? Did it mention where the birth took place? I only ever knew my BROWN as "Nurse BROWN" and only recently; discovered her name to be Elvy BROWN. If this BROWN is indeed the one sought; I am a little surprised in that she herself said that she was abandoned in a Newcastle Street when 3? What did also surprise me a little, was the fact that the Newtown area was where I lived with Nurse BROWN and to now find that her Mother? also lived close by; is a bit of a surprise. Yes indeed; it does mention a Miss E. BROWN at the funeral of Tryphena BROWN in 1943. Yes; I will try and contact "Charles Stuart Uni" to see if they can tell me anything re "Nurse Elvy BROWN"? Many thanks: Robert KEMSLEY
Hi all I have been googling and have come across a "Nurse Elvy Brown Scholarship Fund" administered by the Estate of Nurse Elvy Brown and is for students experiencing hardship or difficulties. It is offered through the Charles Sturt University Foundation. Shirlee Wellington, NZ ----- Original Message ----- From: "KEMSLEY, Robert N. Good morning Shirlee across the seas in Wellington, NZ; Yes: I also; found several references to the "Nurse Elvy BROWN Scholarship" and felt this must indeed; be the woman I was looking for, but at the same time; was surprised in a way to find it so, after having lived with her for a time and being in her care. But again: I am not surprised. It was only last night; that I stumbled across the Article in the Sydney Morning Herald, which included a photo of her and which I cannot say I recognise, but then; that was about 56 years back now. Unfortunately; according to the article; she was 60 in 1972 and that would make her born 1912, which is a year short of me being able to look up on NSW Births, Deaths & Marriages unfortunately. The article also says that she was abandoned at the age of 3, here in a Street in Newcastle. As mentioned; she has been found in the 1949 & 1954 Electoral Rolls, but she cannot be found prior to this, nor after; which very much surprises me. I would also wish to learn what became of her, as in 1972; she was a very sick woman according to the Newspaper article. Thank you ever so very much for your interest. Robert KEMSLEY Australia > I have been googling and have come across a "Nurse Elvy Brown Scholarship > Fund" administered by the Estate of Nurse Elvy Brown and is for students > experiencing hardship or difficulties. Good morning Marg: In my research of Nurse Elvy BROWN: Last night: I stumbled across an article in the SMH dated 28 Apr 1972 re a "Nurse Elvy BROWN", wherein it states that she turned 60 on this day and that she had been "Abandoned in a Newcastle Street at the age of three". I only ever knew my BROWN as "Nurse BROWN" and believe that the above mentioned woman to be my Nurse BROWN. She has been found in the Electoral Rolls: 1949 - Glebe (Nurse) 1954 - Newtown (Nurse) I am keen to learn if there was an Elvy BROWN b) Newcastle 1912? I am also most interested to perhaps learn what happened to Nurse Elvy BROWN after 1954, as she just seems to have vanished. As yet: Elvy BROWN hasn't been found pre 1949 and after 1954, except popping up in 1972 to donate all her life's savings into the "Nurse Elvy BROWN Scholarship Trust" for the education of underprivileged children". In 1972; she was "Seriously ill", but cannot find a Death or Burial for her? It's all a bit of a mystery, which: it would be nice to have solved? Robert KEMSLEY

In my research; I've come across an Elvy BROWN and from what I understand; she was b) 28 Apr 1912, Newcastle? I would be most interested to learn anything of her and if indeed; she was born as stated? I've since found her I believe in 1949 - Glebe (Nurse) & 1954 - Newtown (Nurse) I can find no trace of her after 1954. I would be most interested to learn anything about her? Robert KEMSLEY
