Perhaps another lister could tell you whether purchasing this marriage certificate would give you the name of Rosine's first husband. Hi Dot, So your Abrahams was a soldier in WW1? A quick check shows there were 22 Aussie soldiers in WW1 with the surname of Abrahams. He was your mum-in-laws father, doesn't she or one of her siblings have a birth certificate or something similar that gives her father's name? What about Rose's death certificate? Who was the informant? Did they list the name of her first husband? Dot, is it possible for you to have chats with others about your particular interest, off the ANS site? I have found that it is best to reply to people's personal emails rather than going through the listserve site; I don't wish to bank up other people's email addresses with my particular interests. I also have three computers that I work from and receive duplicte emails to all three. It can become a long exercise to have to delete emails that are not relevant to the list. I'm looking for some NEWTONs that would have emigrated to Australia sometime after 1872. This would be Edwin NEWTON and his wife Mary Ann, plus possible kids (Kate, Flora... others?). Done the ships passengers to death, nothing. My only clue is a photo sent from Lidcombe, NSW (suburb of Sydney) from a Gladys NEWTON to Kate NEWTON. If Kate went with father Edwin, she came back, because she married in Sheffield UK. Gladys could be a niece rather than a sister to Kate, cannot date the photo - probably early 1900's. I've spent hours and hours trying to find records, my only hope now is that someone in Australia can find out something or I can find a living cousin. Edwin was my GG Grandfather. He was born 1848 Saunderton, Bucks, England. Mary Ann was born abt 1849, Bisham, Berks and was maiden name EATON. Here's hoping someone can help on this very old dead end, that has a face in a photo. I have just received a copy of a 1841 NSW Census and was hoping someone could help me read it. District: Murrumbridgee (What area did this take in) Name of Establishment: Gurudigby (I take it this is the name of the property) Owner: John TERRY There are 6 single males and 1 single female, am I right in assuming that John and his family are not included in these figures or is John a single man. If anyone would like a copy of the census page no. 89 - Reel No. 2222 (there are 20 names on it I am happy to pass it on, some of the writing is very faint). TIA Lynne SA
