Hi Dot, It's not a BDM index and you can't take anything for gospel, but you may find it helpful. :) Colonial Tasmanian Family Links database http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=8 Though from memory it only goes to about 1900. It always helps to post an approximate date & parent's names, so other people can help you. :) Kind regards, Sherrie. -- http://www.silkweb.com.au/ On Wed, 11 Oct 2006 01:58:16 +1000, Dot Robertson <andover41@ecn.net.au> wrote: > Hello Listers, > After getting the help l needed from Di,l got lots of info on about > eight of > our ancestors and relatives,l only have one hiccup......is there a BMD > for > Tasmania separate from Australia ...it seems my Eric Kendall Robertson > was > born there ..from all info l have, that seems the most likely place to > search?????? > DotRob Qld thank you in advance > --
Hi Dot Rob There is a database called "Colonial Tasmanian Family Links." But any info on it should be double checked with certificates where possible, as the info on it was mostly put there by people's descendants. It can be found on the following website. http://www.archives.tas.gov.au/ There is lots of other info there for you to look at as well. There are some that are online and free to search. Hello list, To all those who've been following the emails from Dot Robertson in Qld who is trying to research her family: I contacted Dot off list and phoned her as I also live in Qld. Dot is 65 years of age and has only been using a computer since February. You'll remember from one of her previous emails that she mentioned she couldn't get anywhere on the BDM website. We discovered that the reason was that after she clicked "search now" she didn't realise that because of the way her computer is set up that all she had to do was scroll down to see the results of her search. Something as simple as that. I know myself that I found computers very daunting when I first started but a lot of tolerant people out there helped me with the basics too. Dot is now on her way to becoming a super sleuth. I say good on you Dot for having a go. You'll be the one helping us with our research queries in no time at all. Cheers, Di

Hi List I had not heard of this Christian name before so out of sheer curiosity I googled marriages for Rosine 1900 - 1955. There are 16 listed. Surely she must be at least one of those?. From when I started this list about 5 years ago I had it set so that its someone hit reply to all the reply did just that, reply just went to the person When I have replied on this list and others if its of possible general interest then I reply to all if it a 'Thanks for the info ' then just to who ever supplied the info How ever a great many people just reply to who ever ask the question and no one learns anything . Rootsweb do suggest this set up I don't wish to bank up other people's email addresses > with my particular interests. I also have three > computers that I work > from and receive duplicte emails to all three. It can > become a long > exercise to have to delete emails that are not relevant > to the list. All these Q & A's were relevant as showed some basic steps on how to look up info . Why 3 computers anyway ? and downloading the same to all .? Why not down load list mail just on one ? . I have but one computer which is coming up for its 4th birthday this Christmas . Bye MargM Sydney List Admin
Wondered if anyone could look up William Barker and wife Hannah Maria Barker please. Lyn M
In my experience a certificate for a second marriage has no reference to the first marriage beyond the married name of bride and with her being referred to as a widow (or divorced) - it will probably of course give the names of the parents of both the bride and the groom.
