    3. Dear Keith, I believe you will find old Electoral Rolls at the State Library in Macquarie Street. The Society of Australian Genealogists in Kent Street have a large collection also. By check in the NSW Probate Index you may find that one or both of them left an estate and those papers will be found at State Records KINGSWOOD. If you check the Genealogical Research Directory you may find someone researching the same family. Sincerely,Bill > Hello list, > Please bear with me, new to the list and newish to searching Australia > for a particular ancestor but not new to searching as I have been looking > for this chap for a very loooong time. 3. Hi Bill, Thanks very much indeed for those valuable pointers. Do you happen to know whether there are there any online search facilities at those departments or are there any website addresses for any of them. And - are they all Bankstown based? 3. Hello list, Please bear with me, new to the list and newish to searching Australia for a particular ancestor but not new to searching as I have been looking for this chap for a very loooong time. BUT - at last I have found him. George Thomas ROBERTS born 1894 in Dartford, Kent, UK and married to Mary Ann SPAUL born 1890 in Stone in Dartford, Kent. They had a son - Thomas William ROBERTS (named after his grandad) in Dartford in 1923 and then nothing. I searched 1837 online thoroughly but no births and no deaths for at least 10 years. SO - as I was aware (from info received) that some of the SPAUL family had emigrated to Australia, Melbourne in particular and that James SPAUL born 1897 was a Blacksmith (family trade) in Yancannia Marsd. , married Mary Lamb WISE in 1890 at St. John`s C of E Wagga Wagga, and that he died on 10th. November 1944 at Uranquity NSW. A search of the NSW BDM`s revealed that George Thomas ROBERTS died in 1943 in Banks town. Ref: Registration number1016/1943 Last name = ROBERTS Given names = GEORGE THOMAS Fathers name = THOMAS WILLIAM Mothers name = ANNIE NORA District = BANKSTOWN . His wife outlived him slightly!! Registration number = 8147/1975 Last name = ROBERTS Given names = MARY TERESA Fathers name WILLIAM JOHN Mothers name = KATE (but no district given. I have sent for the certificate so hopefully the district will be on that.) Now what advice I will appreciate is this: Is there a means of searching the electoral rolls for the periods 1943 and 1975? How can I find out from Australian/NSW/Bankstown records anything about my ROBERTS family? Most important: Does anyone know or is reasearching this family. -- Please! Kind regards, Keith Roberts Keith Roberts - Colwyn Bay, N. Wales. *~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~* www.tribalpages.com/tribes/kr2877 www.byegones.co.uk

    3. Dear Listers I am new to this list, but hope these surnames may connect with some one. I have checked the List Archives without success but hope that someone currently listing may be able to help. Wilfred MOFFAT married Alice BURRELL in Lancashire in 1906, their first son Alfred was born in 1908 and they moved to Sydney in 1914, where another son was born. Alice died 1919 and he remarried a few years later to a widow Madeline Wain SHIRER with 1 child, Alan. They later had a daughter Betty Madeline who later married W.K. DICKIE. The 2 sons also married in the 1940s, and one had 3 daughters, who would now be in their late 50's-60. I can share a lot of information on their Grandmother's family which they may not know as their stepmother would be the main one they would know of. Thank you for for any help or ideas. Beth

    3. Dear John & Listers, I have not been following any threads about subscribing and unsubscribing, but, it seems to me, that if we all took this attitude of not being able to get our own work done, and not contributing nor helping others out where possible, there would be nothing on the lists for people to save to disc and later entering to our own programs. To me this family tree/grenealogy stuff is ALL about sharing and helping where possible. I have saved each Email onto a small disc and am progressively going through them and entering in to my Brothers keepers Program so i will remain subscribed to those site which help me to complete my interest in Family History. I have other places i go to research my family history and they not on the internet but i can look at shipping reels and actual Birth, deaths, and marriage reels for myself only unfortunately as if i did it for persons on the net i wouldn't get anything done of my own names.
