Hi Inga and List I just had a thought after reading this mail. Mary could have also been known as Polly or Molly, so it might be an idea to check under those names as well. Hi Liz and List I have a List of Norfolk Islanders who made Tasmania their home and the surname Esgate is not amongst them. Sadly it doesn't give dates but merely the person's full name and the name of the ship. It states, Those who settled in this district named it New Norfolk after their island home. So at least you now know they didn't go to Tassie first I suppose. Also I would try www.whitepages.com.au as Esgate doesn't sound as common as Smith. Hope it helps a bit. BDMS I have found that Reuben married in Sydney in 1895 and Walter marries in Ballina in 1896, it seems Ruben and wife Alice moove to Katoomba where there already seemed to be a family of Esgates. If anyone can shed some light on these brothers it would be most appreciated. Inga I looked at the online NSW indexes for a marriage for an Edwin to a Mary from 1850-1950 and came up with nothing. I did find 1 child with the surname FORD with parents Edwin and Mary. He was born 1887. The only 2 marriages I found for an Edwin FORD to a Mary, were Mary AYRES and Mary JACKSON. I then looked in the Victorian CD and found no children for an Edwin FORTH and a Mary. Where did you get your information from please? Regards Joy Light
Hi Inga There does not appear to be a marriage record for Groom Forth and Bride Watkins in the years 1880 to 1890 in BDM. I have heard that in that period, there are incomplete records. I have a marriage in 1876 that I've never been able to find. If you do find the record, the cheapest way is to get a transcription done by one of the 3 or so transcription agents - email addresses can be found on BDM site - I have found Joy Murrin good. (joy@joymurrin.com.au) Hope you find it Lyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "ibsjackson" <ibsjackson@xtra.co.nz> To: <AUS-NSW-SYDNEY@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 19, 2006 10:26 PM Subject: [ANS] Marriage records > Hi Listers, > > I am looking for Mary Watkins who married Edwin Forth in Sydney in 1885. > > LDS don't seem to have any Microfilms available. > > Are there any records available at all? > > I should be most grateful if anybody can help me in my search. > > Regards > > Inga Jackson > > Wellington. > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > AUS-NSW-SYDNEY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without > the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
Dear Inga, It sounds like you want further details. The way you will get them is to buy a certificate or transcription. As far as I know that is the only way. Try www.marbract.com.au who is one of the transcription agents. The details transcribed from the register at the Registrar Generals Office are the same as you would get on a certificate, but cheaper. Hi Jenny, Many thanks for your reply. I feel the Hambly Family I am seeking are from the Lismore area, at least originally. I have a Frederick George Hambly, born Lismore district around 1910, father Thomas A, mother Elizabeth G. Frederick George married Dulcie Mary (nee Dart) in 1943, and had a son Darryl. There are grandchildren I believe from the Ryerson Index, Bronwyn, Graeme, Stewart and Russell Hambly. Any of the names ring a bell? Thanks Ann, Qld.

HAT-History of Australian Theatre www.hat-archive.com Greetings, As many of you know I operate the above website which contains a 15000 entry database of people once associated with the Australian Theatre. It's an independently owned and operated site, so I try to finance it in different ways. Blatant advertising! My new book Houdini's Tour of Australia is now available through Ginninderra Press- at http://www.ginninderrapress.com.au/. Priced at a modest AU$17.50. Please pass this message on to anybody who is interested in Houdini or interested in supporting the website! Thanks for your time Leann www.hat-archive.com
To Lyn, Marg, Hilda and Bill Thanks for all the information you gave and offers of help. I found the record numbers on the OLD green microfiche copies years ago, but after getting the 1st will never looked again. Then I did one recently and they had obviously done a reprint but not in green. Haven't found any online indexes though. Will let you all know how I get on. Thanks and regards Joy Light

Hi Joy, I feel VERY guilty.......I live about 10 minutes away from Kingswood and if you would trust me with your information and tell me what you want I would be more than happy to do it for you. Dear Joy, If you have the numbers it is relatively easy to get the copies. The cost you paid is a universal one and includes a certain number of copies. Had the file been triple the size you would have probably got the whole file for the same cost. I believe that TURTLE the transcription agent does them for about $25 plus copy cost. >From time to time I go there, but haven't been for a while, and could do it for you just for copy costs if you can wait a few weeks. Sincerely, Bill > Hi everyone > > My name is Joy Light and I am fairly new to this list and NSW > researching, having most of my families coming from Victoria, where I > live.
Dear Lyn, It is really 45 cents per A4 and $2 per A3. Probate Index is not on line but available as a set of microfiche for $27 from Supreme Court. They will not take a cheque or bank cheque I believe. Sincerely,Bill > Hi Joy > > Since you have the Reference numbers, I think you (or someone for you) can
