    3. Dear Bill, Many thanks for getting back to me about this: I have to confess I'd forgotten all about it! I've searched the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park site, but there's no record of any O'Reillys being buried there (or even Gosling, her maiden name) - although there are about a dozen or so who have been cremated, but none of them belong to the O'Reilly clan I'm interested in, so it's still a bit of a mystery where she is. What I will do is email the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park direct and see if they can shed any light on where Rose can be. I'll let you know what response I get from them. I've yet to find any trace of the other O'Reillys, they all seem to be keeping their heads down for some reason! Thanks again for remembering about this; if I can't find her or any others in the family, I may yet find myself out there for a holiday! Best regards, Phil

    3. Dear Philip, Some time ago, many months in fact you asked where Rose O"REILLY was buried. It is some time since I had a day out researching but yesterday I looked at her death and funeral notices in the SMH as it was on my list. Her funeral was from St. Michael's Church DACEYVILLE to the BOTANY Roman Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday 15 Aug 1989. I think I suggested at the time that Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, which is on line, was the most likely cemetery. That is the new name for the old Botany Cemetery, which is not at Botany, it is at MATRAVILLE. Hope this helps. Hi Helen As you undoubtedly know the Hylands were a well known family in the Balmain area (maybe still are) I have written a history of the now disappeared Balmain Catholic cemetery and am trying to re-create the also long lost burial register and there are quite few Hylands believed to have been buried there, so here's what I have, the story of how the land for the cemetery was acquired is somewhat a mystery but when the land was finally registered to the Catholic church in January 1869, one of the four Trustees was Michael Hyland publican of Balmain What follows is a list of those believed or known to have been buried in this cemetery and any help you are able to provide to add to what I have, especially date of death would be most gratefully receieved John Hyland date of death unknown aged approx. 26 James Hyland died 1871 parents thought to be Michael & Ann Michael Hyland died 1873 parents Michael and Ann Michael Hyland Died 13 June 1879 buried 15 June 1879 Edward J Hyland died 1883 parents Michael and Ann Patrick Hyland died 6 April 1887 buried 7 April 1887 Mathias Hyland died 8 June 1894 buried 9 June 1894 Where I show a date of death and burial I have confirmed that person was buried in the Balmain Catholic cemetery I look forward to hearing from you Patrick Callaghan From: Helen T To: pca96504@bigpond.net.au Sent: Monday, March 05, 2007 7:10 PM Subject: Hyland Hi Patrick, You said on the Sydney list: Is anyone researching this family? She died 13 November 1932 at her residence, 33 Murray Street Croyden, in the municipality of Burwood and was buried in the Church of England Cemetery, Rookwood. I would like to know if there headstone inscriptions available for this cemetery, or if anyone could have a look for me and maybe photograph any headstone that might be there. It seems that Clara had only one son, Alexander, who was an architect in Sydney. It's also possible that he never married, but until I send for his death reg, I won't know.
