    3. -----Original Message----- From: aus-nsw-sydney-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-nsw-sydney-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of aus-nsw-sydney-request@rootsweb.com Hi Christine I looked at the Ryerson Index of deaths since around 1970 and there is only one William Gough listed died aged 72 in 1985 at Rydalmere, the age is not right, but Rydalmere is near Parramatta. I looked at the National Archives Website for WW2 service - there are two entries for William John Gough born 1923 in Swansea Wales. One has the records up ditigally to view on the web - the other will have to be a request for a paper copy. (www.naa.gov.au - recordsearch - search now as a guest - just put in William John Gough, and you should get four results). You can also search on the passenger list index (bar at top) and get one William Gough who came to Aus in 1938. It looks like he married Mollie, listed as his next of kin, and her death notice, I assume it, is listed on the Ryerson Index. (http://ryerson.arkangles.com/notices.php) Surname Given Names Notice Type Date Type Age Other Details Publication Published GOUGH Mollie Death notice 17JUN1996 Death 85 Sydney Morning Herald 18JUN1996 Hope this gives you a start Diane Cole Today's Topics: 1. 3. Hi Ann, No, no that one. Here's the URL from my favourites, this still comes up but none of the links to each letter work. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswsdps/dpsindx1.htm Also, the home page doesn't seem to have a link to it anymore. It was all working fine on the weekend. Technically, I can still access the main index through the search page but I prefer the browsing method. Thanks anyway, Katrina > > >Hi > >Is this what you are looking for??? > >http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswsdps/obits/shobit1.htm > >Ann >Cairns, qld

    3. Dear Ann, The Western NSW mailing list has a similar index for what you are asking for but it covers basically the western land division of NSW and a little bit of the central Division.... see: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~surreal/NSWW/Hotels/index.html If you contact Rusheen Craig, the transcriber and author of the database she will be able to tell you where to look for the primary source. Her e-mail is: rusheen at optusnet dot com dot au Alternative 1 contact by phone or mail, the Nepean District Historical Society: http://www.nepeanhistoricalsociety.org.au/contact/ They are located in the " Arms of Australia Inn, or `Mortimer“s House“ as it was also known as, was one of 23 road side Inns in the Nepean District and the last stop before starting up the mountain road and the trail west." 3. Dear Ann, I don't know if it goes that far back, but Publicans have had to renew their licence annually and that renewal is published in the Government Gazette, mostly around August, pages of them each set out in the Liquor Licensing District. There are butts of licences on reel ( I think) at State Records. Go to www.records.nsw.gov.au and look for Archives in Brief 61. They are information sheets and that one is on Publicans Licenses. If you find something you want looked at, I go to State Records from time to time. Sincerely,Bill > Hi all > > I am new to the list.
