Dear Genie A relatively inexpensive way to find out if this death is the correct William Anderson is to use a transcription agent who will check certain details first before transcribing the whole certificate. Since you know his spouse was Margaret Campbell, you could use this as checking point. Cost is $7 if check turns out to be incorrect or $15 if the correct one. Good luck Lyn Mealey Sydney ----- Original Message ----- From: "Genie" <wi.nash@bigpond.net.au> To: <aus-nsw-sydney@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 31, 2007 11:19 AM Subject: Re: [ANS] Anderson > Dear Ann, > > Thanks very much for the item, but I have already checked the indexes. Dear Ann, Thanks very much for the item, but I have already checked the indexes. I am very wary of these deaths which only show the mother's name as I find they are usually unmarried mothers. The older people sometimes just show the ages. I was hoping to hear from someone researching this family. Too many William Andersons. Thanks again, Genie.

Hi Sally My suggestion is to have a look through the NSW BDM Index which is online at http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/ It might give you something on that name. Newcastle is the name of a very large city just north of Sydney. Hello, On a death registration I've received, the address of the deceased and of the informant, is given as 151A George Street, Sydney. Can anyone tell me what 151A George Street may have been in 1943, please? I'm taking a guess at a guest house, hostel for men, or a hotel and would like to have it confirmed. Many thanks Ailsa Petrie Hamilton New Zealand
Dear Alisa, All three have probate numbers and I have written to you off list about them. Sincerely,Bill > Good evening, > > I have received three death registrations from NSW and would now like to > check if these people left any wills. I understand the probate indexes
Dear Alisa, I have the NSW Probate Index and will look at these for you later today. They are not on line, but you might find the first one on www.records.nsw.gov.au as State Records are gradually indexing them. If there is a Probate Number then there is a fair chance that there will be a Probate Packet. These are obtained in person at State Records or there are a couple of people who do them for a fee. In round terms they are available up to about 1963. Number 598433 is the last one available the last time I was there and that has not altered for a long time. We will correspond off line later. Sincerely,Bill > Good evening, > > I have received three death registrations from NSW and would now like to > check if these people left any wills. I understand the probate indexes

Good evening, I have received three death registrations from NSW and would now like to check if these people left any wills. I understand the probate indexes are on fiche and kept in various libraries. Are they also available online? If not, would someone be prepared to check the fiche for me, please? I am looking for: Clara Williamson, died 13 November 1932. Her husband: Arthur Joseph Williamson, died 9 May 1943. Their son: Alexander Williamson, died 8 February 1955. If probates are available, how do I then go about obtaining copies? Many thanks for your time. Ailsa Petrie Hamilton New Zealand
