    3. Dear Mike, As an afterthought, and it is a wonder someone else did not do this previously, I looked at the Headstone Inscriptions for the Rookwood Cemetery, which were done many years ago. There are no QUAIL entries at all on it, so the chances that there is no headstone to be found are quite high. The book on Rookwood Cemetery says that it is the biggest cemetery in the world, still operating. When it was gazetted in the 1860's (I think), it was way out in the backblocks from the city. With the urban sprawl it is now close to the geographical centre of Sydney suburbs. Sincerely, Bill >> >> Is anyone able to take a digital photo of a headstone for me ? 3. Hi Marg, Thanks for the reply. I'm not expecting anyone to go out of their way, but if anyone living in Sydney was already visiting the cemetery, it would be nice if they could take a quick snap for me. You're right about earlier correspondence on the list. List members were very helpful and provided a number of useful leads. It turned out that my Clarendon QUAIL, who died at the young age of 33, was a Freemason. An obituary notice requested fellow masons to attend the funeral dressed in full regalia. I'm just writing up the story for our local newspaper here in Leicester and thought that a picture of the simple headstone, bearing the names of Clarendon and his wife, Edith, would be nice to accompany it. Edith died just over fifty years later, having returned to England after her husband's death, but then returned again to Australia a few years later.
