    3. Dear Vanessa, I would suspect that Northern Suburbs Crematorium, or Northern Suburbs Cemetery would be a good bet. That newspaper is on line on TROVE and the Funeral Notices are in the next column or two to the Death Notices. In 1952 that would have been "out in the bush", but now is a highly populated area, but on the fringe of the National Park. Probates are not on line for that period, but I will look at my Probate Index later. Sincerely, Bill > I hope someone might be able to help me > > I have just found out that a relative and his wife resided in 9 Leeming > Street Mt Kuringai. 1. [ANS] RAWSON - Oby aka Obadiah - 1850- 1960 ish
    2. graham dixon
    3. Hi, I am looking to contact anyone with and interest in RAWSON - particular family around Manly late 19th and early 20th C. as follows. My interest currently is on three generations of Obadiah Willans RAWSON and their children who seem to spend much time in central Sydney or Manly, or in Victoria. The Manly area also includes a connection with SMITH ( :-( ). Fortunately Mr SMITH had a distinctive name => Sydney ShaftesBury SMITH ( :-) ) Obadiah is also recorded ( esp in press ) as Oby, and many other variations in BMD online indices. Obadiah WIllans RAWSON ( snr) (1829 (Eng) - 1886 (Aus)) m. 1855 Agnes PATON -> 6 known children, 3 early deaths. Obadiah Willans RAWSON (mid) ( 1864-1934) m. 1897(VIC) Cora Georgina ONUS -> 2 known children, Molly W & following Obadiah Willans RAWSON (jnr) (1898-1961) m. 1924(VIC) Ida Nell FORSHAW -> 3 children. ( I know the names but omit as 1 may be still alive) There was a notice in Sydney newspapers in Jan 1931 of the birth of a daughter to MARSHALL ( Molly RAWSON ) wife of George R MARSHALL of .............. Molly was recorded as deceased on the registration of her fathers death in 1934. thank-you. cheers Graham Dixon (Auckland, New Zealand)

    1. Re: [ANS] RAWSON - Oby aka Obadiah - 1850- 1960 ish
    2. Bill
    3. Dear Graham, If you check regularly www.ryersonindex.org you may find a death notice indexed. On the National Library website there are all the Sydney Morning Heralds to ?? 1954. The thing you have to remember is that if pare of a letter is missing the Optical Character Recognition does not recognise that word. With print not being as clear in the early days as it is now, this happens a lot. Most SMH notices past 1954 have been indexed, definately complete from 1967 on. Updated fortnightly (usually) it is worth coming back to check regularly. There is no George MARSHALL who died in 1934 on the NSW Probate Index, so that rules out probably any information from a Last Will and Testament. It was just post depression in that time too. Sincerely, Bill > My interest currently is on three generations of Obadiah Willans RAWSON > and their children who seem to spend much time in central Sydney or > Manly, or in Victoria. > The Manly area also includes a connection with SMITH ( :-( ). > Fortunately Mr SMITH had a distinctive name => Sydney ShaftesBury SMITH > ( :-) ) > Obadiah is also recorded ( esp in press ) as Oby, and many other > variations in BMD online indices. > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    1. [ANS] recording a 2nd marriage in PAF
    2. Beryl Whatson
    3. To record a 2nd [or more marriages] in PAF, you do the same action as the first marriage. Then it will be added to the person, in another window, which is easily seen, and you then choose which spouse you want to view. Once you have the right spouse up on the screen, you can then add any children to that couple. If you make a mistake, you can unlink the child and delete it from the parents. When you go into the notes on the original person, you can then write their whole life history including all marriages and children, in fact anything at all. Also there is a facility for adding a photograph to the person's name, and it appears with their name every time you open it. Beryl.

    1. Re: [ANS] PAF 5 - How do I record a 2nd or subsequent Marriages fora Female?
    2. Bill
    3. Dear Robert, When you have Anne as the person, you select "add husband" There will be the obligitory question about adding a husband as she is already married, but that answered you will be able to add the new "husband" and each time you open up "her" as the person you are looking at, her first husband (that you have put in) will come up, but there will be a note underneath to say she has other marriages, and you can open up that marriage. You can alter the order of the husbands if they are not right way around. Sincerely, Bill > > Sincere thanks for your response. > > > Women retain their single names in family tree data. 2. For recording purposes, the ladies always keep their maiden names. You could use David BLACK's "Notes" to record that his wife, Anne JONES, had previously been married to John SMITH. 3. Hi Bill, Thanks for the reply. It appears that there is a transcription of a simple headstone for Clarendon and Edith, but perhaps not quite the gleaming white polished marble edifice in a well-kept graveyard that I was imagining ! In any event, if anyone does get the chance to find the last resting place of my relatives, it would be greatly appreciated. If it turns out to require an Indiana Jones exploration to track it down, then please don't spend unnecessary time on my behalf ! Best wishes, Mike Gould Leicestershire -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bill Sent: 16 February 2011 20:19 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ANS] Photo request - Old Wesleyan section of Rookwood Cemetery Dear Mike, As an afterthought, and it is a wonder someone else did not do this previously, I looked at the Headstone Inscriptions for the Rookwood Cemetery, which were done many years ago. There are no QUAIL entries at all on it, so the chances that there is no headstone to be found are quite high. The book on Rookwood Cemetery says that it is the biggest cemetery in the world, still operating. When it was gazetted in the 1860's (I think), it was way out in the backblocks from the city. With the urban sprawl it is now close to the geographical centre of Sydney suburbs. Sincerely, Bill >> >> Is anyone able to take a digital photo of a headstone for me ?
