Many thanks for your helpful information - that's great. He would have been 43 at the time of marriage, so it's possible they never had any kids. Unfortunately for the purposes of tracing him, the letters to my grandfather were sent from Russia and Finland - where his father was a teacher - just before he skedaddled down to Sydney. That's why it's such a blank slate for me. He and my grandpa had been schoolmates growing up in Kilmarnock. A few months ago I stumbled across a 2-year old enquiry about Adam Boyle's Ayrshire background from an Australian gentleman who was some kind of descendant - but unfortunately his email address was no longer good. Anyway, you've given me a good lead. It's really appreciated. I'm trying to trace Adam Boyle, born in Scotland 1868, who emigrated to NSW in August 1888 on board the steamship 'Damascus' from London. His father, Robert Boyle, was a German and English professor in St Petersburg, Russia. Adam apparently married Lillian Ann Chandler in Sydney, but I can't find any traces of him. Any clues would be appreciated. I have some letters from him to my grandfather. John Humphrey (Toronto)
Dear Lister, I have been trying for many years to find out about my McCarthy descendants from Dublin. Thanks to a brilliant effort from Penne in New Zealand I have found out that Patrick McCarthy, who had come to Australia in 1836, was found guilty of something in the Berrima Court (Goulburn) on the 2nd May 1842 and was sentenced to 14 years and deported. It has now raised several questions about Patrick McCarthy. Where was he deported to? Where did his wife go to? What was his crime? What were his parents names? Thank you very much, Joe Crane Queensland. ( ps even a friendly return email would be great. jc.)

Thank you to all that replied. I contacted my ISP who eventually told me it was a problem with the Family Search server accepting "au" emails. I then spoke to the LDS who apparently have fixed the problem. Peter Melbourne Today's Topics: 1. FAMILY SEARCH (Kerrie) 2. Re: FAMILY SEARCH (Beverley Driver) 3. Re: FAMILY SEARCH (Jenny McCarthy)

Hi Linda: Yes: I should have shown as "NON GEN", but forgot to do so. The tune: "The 3rd man theme" was running around in my head for such a long time and I was getting frustrated in not being able to find the name of, although I knew it was something "Man Theme", that I approached the list for assistance and through the list; found it was "The 3rd Man Theme" or as pointed out to me: "The Harry LIME Theme" and I was delighted to have long last; found the name of the tune and then found the movie in our library and to then find it played within Andre RIEU Orchestra was the icing on the cake as it were and we are now hooked on Andre RIEU. Thank goodness for YouTube which now allows us to listen to tunes etc, that we would otherwise be unable to or not know about. Thank you and I will now endeavour to find on YouTube: Jon GOMM. Kindest Regards: Robert KEMSLEY P.S. Linda - in London. My beloved and I visited and Coach Toured the UK mid 2000 and loved the whole experience; staying in Highbury for a week and a week in and around Chester and it was all exactly as we had pictured it to be and we marvelled at it all and were delighted with your Canal Boats, Squirrels etc. I guess you take it all fro granted, but to us; it was wonderful to see the old England and not all the new. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Staunton" <stauntonlinda@googlemail.com> To: <aus-nsw-sydney@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 21, 2012 5:39 AM Subject: Re: [ANS] Sought tune found > Snipped and non gen but I just had to respond. > > Youtube for Jon Gomm if you would like to see a guitar played like nothing > you've seen. > > A M A Z I NG > > Linda - in London

Some little time back: I asked of the list, the name of a tune that had been running around in my head for some little time; finding it to be "The Third Man Theme" or "The Harry LIME theme". Since then: I stumbled across "Andre RIEU" and if you've not heard of him and his "Johann STRAUSS Orchestra": Then: I believe you are really missing out on a real treat. For a real treat: visit "Youtube Andre RIEU 3rd Man Theme": see and hear it played on the "Zither" and if you don't then get hooked on "Andre RIEU"; I would be most surprised. Robert KEMSLEY
