Hi Everyone I am searching for a George Alfred SMITH who married Anne Henderson CAMERON in 1900 at Marlee, NSW (near Wingham). George was helping re-build the Marlee bridge between 1898 and 1900. Someone has mentioned that he was a "hard-hat diver" employed to help build this bridge. Does anyone have any details on him and where he came from (eg: Sydney) to work on the Marlee bridge. Is there a list of "hard-hat divers" in the 1898 to 1900s? George Alfred Smith died in 1952 at Lambton (Newcastle). His marriage certificate, 1900, says his father was John and his mother was Elizabeth and were both deceased at the time of marriage. He was born about 1874/75. Any help would be appreciated.
