Catherine, Jane Jackson is possibly the daughter of John Simpson Jackson and Margaret Daly, who had a daughter Jane born around 1858 in Balmain. There is a marriage on NSW BMD of a Henry Campbell and Jane Jackson registration number 2131/1894 at Ashfield. Have you got this certificate to see their parents' names? If so, we are related as John Simpson Jackson is my great grandfather. There are two possible marriages of a William B Campell and Elizabeth A Jackson in 1852, but the registration number V1852258/38C/1852 is in Sydney, while the other is in Maitland, so less likely. I don't think I have an Elizabeth of the correct age in my tree, unfortunately. Please let me know any other information you have and we can compare notes. Would be interested to hear from any other Jacksons, too! Hi Laurie, Yes I have recently acquired the marriage certificate of Henry Campbell and Jane Jackson, number 2131/1894 from NSW BDM. (But in my family she was always called Jean.) Her parents are listed as John Jackson (merchant) and Caroline Gore. I have some lovely photo's of Jean and Henry. So would she be your great Aunt ? It surprised me that father and son both married women with the name Jackson. I have the marriage certificate of William Branch Campbell of Canterbury and Elizabeth Anne Jackson of St. Lawrence, Sydney in 1852 (Number 258 Vol.38C), but their parents aren't listed. I since found listing of another marriage certificate (the one you mentioned V1852258/1852) of two people of the same name and am waiting for it to arrive from NSW BDM. I am wondering if they registered their marriage with Church of England and the Roman Catholic church, or if their were just two couples married in Sydney in 1852 with the same name. Hopefully the second one will bear the parents names otherwise how will I know which is who ? There are more JACKSONS on the other side of my tree also in Australia. Elwyn Henry Jackson married Elsie Campbell and had 3 children Elwyn, Hilda and Robert. Elsies father Rev. Joseph Campbell (1858-1933) being Henry Campbells brother. Great to hear from you. If you live in central Sydney, I will be there from Feb 14-18 and would be happy to give you a photo of Jean/Jane if you're interested and meet up to exchange info. I have recently moved from Sydney to Brisbane but I will be going back to Balmain when in Sydney to visit friends - funny to think now that that's where my great grandmother was born ! Have you traced back to where Janes parents came from ? I remember hearing my grand father speak of Caroline Gore.
