Hi All Also, wondering if anyone researching the names of the First Fleeter James Walbourn and its variants? And his wife sophia Lewis also of first fleet? Many thanks Louise
Hi Louise, Sorry this is a bit late, I've been away for the past few days and just saw your message. From the book "First Fleet Families of Australia" there is the following entry for James WALBOURNE: Born: London Arrived: 26/01/1788, "Scarbourough" - Convict Died: Married: 24/03/1788, St Phillips Sydney; Sophia Lewis (GS) Children: - 1. William, b. 08/08/1790, Sydney Cove 2. James, b. 04/10/1794, Norfolk Island Sophia LEWIS: Born: circa 1858, London Arrived: 26/01/1788, "Lady Penrhyn" - Convict Died: Married: 24/03/1788. St Phillips Sydney; James Walbourne Children: - see James Walbourne In the abbreviations it is stated that the (GS) after Sophia indicates Government Servant (convict) and is the abbreviation applying to the 1828 Census. I hope this is of some assistance.
