MONTGOMERY family just found in AUSTRALIA. WILLIAM HENRY MONTGOMERY was born SUSSEX 1849 and as a sailor arrived Sydney 1870 on "Galatea". He married EMILY PEPPER in 1874 at Hunter River and 10 children were born to family seemingly all between Sydney, Greta, Waterloo, Newcastle and Hamilton....Names:- GEORGE HENRY MONTGOMERY. born/died 1875 Twins JOHN & JAMES MONTGOMERY born 1876 Waterloo MARION MONTGOMERY born 1878 at Greta Twins WILLIAM and HENRY MONTGOMERY born 1879 at Greta EMILY KATE MONTGOMERY born 1881 at Greta HAMILTON MONTGOMERY born 1883 at Newcastle ANNABELL MONTGOMERY born 1885Newcastle THOMAS ROWLAND ? born 1887 at Hamilton Would love to find some descendants..as I have a great deal to share.... Thelma, We have MONTGOMERY and PEPPER is our ancestors however our MONTGOMERY was born in Durham in about the same year (damn!). We are interested in your Emily PEPPER who married William at Hunter River. We have a Mary Jane PEPPER who married Jonathan MANSFIELD in 1865 at Patricks Plains (near Singleton). We are having difficulty in tracking down further information and were wondering if there could be a link between the two PEPPER girls. We have Mary Jane's father as Edward PEPPER - convict off the Barossa arriving in 1839. We know nothing of Mary Jane's mother. Edward was also known as Shadrack PEPPER, Shadrack TURRILL and Shadrack TWERT - most records show him as Shadrack PEPPER. Edward was sentenced for 10 years for sheep stealing in Kent in 1839. He played up a bit as he is mentioned in the newspaper of the day (don't the reference in front of me). Mary Jane was born circa 1847 at Patricks Plains although we also have a reference that states she was born at West Maitland circa 1845. Do you think there is a connection.
