We have heard (although not officially) that the NSW Death registers may be removed from the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages and archived in only a few weeks time. We have not been advised of a firm date, nor are we aware of any immediately planned alternative arrangements for obtaining information from the death registrations, other than the purchasing of a full- price, official certificate. It might therefore be advisable for anyone planning to obtain a death transcription to submit the request as quickly as possible so that the information can be obtained before the death registers are removed. At this stage we anticipate that the transcription of births and marriages will continue to be available for some time, as the scanning of marriage registers is still at an early stage, and the scanning of birth registers has not yet begun.
