I am researching my grandmother's family from Sydney, NSW. John BARNES came out from Devonshire, England about 1840. He was a civil engineer and worked for years in the Sydney Morning Herald Newspaper office in charge of the printing machinery. He was about 70 years old on retirement and died at age 85. His children were Elizabeth, John William, Charles Sim, Emma and Edith. John William married Louisa Maude SIM about 1885. Their children were Helen Elizabeth (my grandmother), Enid, Madge, Laurence Sim, Cecil J, Roy W and Keith. Louisa Maude SIM's parents were Richard and Sarah WHITEFORD.
