    3. The Sun Herald 8 November 1953 Sports Section Hydrogen now biggest winner of stakes. Melbourne, Saturday.---Hydrogen romped in an easy winner in the C. B. Fisher Plate at Flemington to-day and became Australia's greatest stake-winner. Hydrogen earned owner Mr. E. R. Williams 1,750 pounds to make his total winnings 57,179 pounds. Phar Lap had reached 56,425 pounds before he left Australia on his ill-fated trip to America. Hydrogen was ridden by W. Williamson (photograph) who replaced George Moore. Bay Monk taking the lead in the 2-Y.-O. Promotion Stakes. He was ridden by A. Ward, and won well after nearly falling. (photograph) Fairglo, ridden by N.
