I am in contact with relatives of their ancestors' overseas. but none in Australia. BLANCHARD's were French Huguenots. Fled to England for short while. Emigrated to Boston, Mass., (USA) in 1637. From there to New Hampshire and on to Nova Scotia, (Canada). WILLIAM EARLE BLANCHARD & wife ELLEN CURRIE/CURRY came to Victoria, Australia circa 1850s, & lived at EMERALD HILL "Tent City" at South Melbourne for a while. Most of the family then settled in Sydney, New South Wales. KNOWN CHILDREN: Andrew Charles, John McLean, Jotham, unnamed, Sophia McLean, Charles Edward, Samuel, Sarah C, Mary. I thought it possible that they came out on the "AURORA", Master Captain Kitchen, which left Prince Edward Island, Pictou, & Halifax in September 1852, and arrived in Port Phillip, Australia, in SEPTEMBER 1853 (Transcribers Guild list). This voyage, is recorded in Australia as having arrived in FEBRUARY 1853 (VIC GRO List). But no Blanchard's recorded. Son JOTHAM BLANCHARD went to Queensland. Married LIZZIE WEEDON born Warwickshire, England in 1868. Settled in MARYBOROUGH Queensland, area. His son SAMUEL THOMAS (TOM) BLANCHARD, married PHOEBE ELIZABETH MEREDITH/MERIDETH in 1902. Phoebe's parents were EDWIN MEREDITH & ELIZABETH SHEPHERD. Both from Staffordshire in England, married Shropshire, England, 1862.
