Hi all, I am researching the above names. My research has established that the Stretton and Harriden families moved from Wagga Wagga to Hay in 1865. The Barber, Cox, Ray, McGuire(Maguire), Runn and Williams links married children of Edward Price Stretton and his wife Maria Harriden. Cheers Paul Stretton Melton Victoria

Hello Wynnette, I am interested in BLANCHARD. An aunt Frances Maud WELLS married John Julian BLANCHARD in Sydney 1937 and lived in Drummoyne. At this time that is all I know about him. Maybe his family did come from Vic. I shall look further into it. We could have a connection Len Wells Port Macquarie NSW Aus. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Graeme & Wynnette Ford" <wynngrae@globalfreeway.com.au> To: <AUS-NSW-SURNAMES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 10, 2000 10:19 AM Subject: Fw: BLANCHARD/CURRIE/WEEDON/MEREDITH/SHEPHERD > Reposting my interests. > > Subject:: BLANCHARD/BLANSHARD -( Nova Scotia, Canada & Australia [Victoria, > New South Wales, Queensland]) > CURRIE/CURRY (As above) > WEEDON/WEEDING (Warwickshire, England & Queensland) > MEREDITH/MERIDETH (Staffordshire, England & Queensland) > SHEPHERD (Staffordshire, England & Queensland) > > > Any Australian descendants out there for these families? I am in contact with relatives of their ancestors' overseas. but none in Australia. BLANCHARD's were French Huguenots. Fled to England for short while. Emigrated to Boston, Mass., (USA) in 1637. From there to New Hampshire and on to Nova Scotia, (Canada). WILLIAM EARLE BLANCHARD & wife ELLEN CURRIE/CURRY came to Victoria, Australia circa 1850s, & lived at EMERALD HILL "Tent City" at South Melbourne for a while. Most of the family then settled in Sydney, New South Wales. KNOWN CHILDREN: Andrew Charles, John McLean, Jotham, unnamed, Sophia McLean, Charles Edward, Samuel, Sarah C, Mary. This voyage, is recorded in Australia as having arrived in FEBRUARY 1853 (VIC GRO List). But no Blanchard's recorded. Son JOTHAM BLANCHARD went to Queensland. Married LIZZIE WEEDON born Warwickshire, England in 1868. Settled in MARYBOROUGH Queensland, area. His son SAMUEL THOMAS (TOM) BLANCHARD, married PHOEBE ELIZABETH MEREDITH/MERIDETH in 1902. Phoebe's parents were EDWIN MEREDITH & ELIZABETH SHEPHERD. Both from Staffordshire in England, married Shropshire, England, 1862. Be extremely glad to hear from any Australian descendants and swap information. Wynnette Ford, formerly Blanchard, nee Mansfield.
