    3. Hi List, This is my first query. My husband was researching his mother's family named Anderson who lived in Cumberland Street, Sydney, and when he checked in the 1901 Census there were about 10 families named Anderson living in Cumberland Street. I was wondering whether these families were related. Is anyone researching the name Anderson? The name we have begun researching is: Albert Halvor Anderson married to Mary Ann Waddell. Best wishes, Pat Bostock.

    1. MOULANG Family
    2. Irene Kiggen
    3. Hi Listers, Reposting my interests. The National Australian telephone directory lists 27 different MOULANG families living in Australia, at the present time. I have posted this request before and several listers responded, for which I was very grateful. The Australian Vital Records index gives imformation about the marriage of Joseph Moulang to Emily E Brady in 1886 and the birth of their son David in 1887. Unfortunately the SKS who provided this info did not have copies of the later AVR's and I would be very grateful if someone, who has copies of these records, could do a look-up of the later entries for BMD's for me. The 1881 census has transcribed the name as MONLANG, family living in Ramsgate, Kent at this time. Variants of the name are spelt as Mowlang, Mouling, Moulany, Moulange, Moolan, and many other variations, in other documents.. Name originally French Huguenot <du Moulin> who fled to Ireland in the late 1600's. My family were mostly born in Dublin until the mid 1800's when some of the family moved to London. My g.g.grandfather was a Joseph Moulang and I feel that the Joseph marriage mentioned in the first paragraph is probably a family connection. Moulang is an unusual name and of the 27 families in Aus surely someone must have a connection to my line - I would be so thrilled to discover this which would enable me to fill in some of the gaps between Pierre and Florance du Moulin Dublin in + - 1680's and my existing family. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Irene Kiggen (nee Moulang), Port Elizabeth, South Africa. . Any assistance will be much appreciated, and I thank you in advance. Irene Kiggen, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

    3. Hi Alison If you are lookinging downhill from the church with the "monds" a bit above the bottom of a shallow depression, the church was probably the Anglican Christ Church St Laurence on the eastern side of George Street, a bit downhill from the Railway towards the Quay. On the same side of the road and a little up the next rise there used to be Mick Symonds Sports Store. It had gone by the late 60's when I returned to live in Sydney & I think there is now a building in abeyance on the way from a big hole. Not altogether a unique proof of identity, but I can't think of any other that comes close. Cheers Harry >Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 12:16:33 +1100 >From: "Alison Briggs" <abriggs@mars.ocs.mq.edu.au> >To: AUS-NSW-SURNAMES-L@rootsweb.com >Message-ID: <00cb01c096ec$ef280700$de846f89@abriggs> >Subject: A long shot - Sydney >Content-Type: text/plain; > charset="iso-8859-1" > >Hello List >I hope you don't laugh at this request but... > >My mother recently gave me a photograph taken on either VE Day or VJ Day 1945 in Sydney. It's taken outside a big old church with columns at the steps. Outside the church is a notice for an organ recital, but can't read the date or place. On a side wall is an old wooden notice board with a triangular top, and underneath in minute print looks to be the ministers name (unreadable of course) and information about service times. >Looking up the street is a covered walkway over some shops. One of the shops has an obscured sign that says "?monds" (which I guess to be Symonds) > >I'm hoping this might job someone's memory. Unfortunately I can't ask my grandmother. > >Alison > >
