    3. Dear Lawrence, I don't think any of the people you mentioned connect with my family. Eliza Barlow died 1892 and was buried either at the Catholic section of Petershem or Waverley Cemeteries. The William in our family died in 1941. Don't know when his wife Elizabeth died, but they were not married until 1899. So I don't think it can be the right one. The family seem to have lived in the Wqaverley district most of the time, but no doubt they moved around at some time. Thanks for your interest and good luck. Judith.

I've been searching for his family but can't seem to connect any names you have listed. There are 76 Barlows listed in the Rookwood Cemetery CD... have you looked at these? There is a William Henry there who died in 1911 aged 53; Adelaide who died 1897 aged 41; and Elizabeth who died 1903 aged 42. These are the same names you mentioned, I think. Macaquarie Park Cemetery CD has 22 Barlows, and also esmp.com.au (Eastern Suburbs cemetery) has more Barlows! There is an Eliza Barlow in St Thomas' Church Cemetery, Enfield (my wife attends there) died 1905, aged 67, and lived at Burwood. Have you looked at the NSW State Records for shipping arrivals? It's at: www.records.nsw.gov.au Let me know if you need more look-ups on the cemetery CDs. 3. G/day Nicole You may have a job. In Victoria many chinese were unfortunately only refered to quite derogatively on many shipping lists, e.g 50 "Pigtails" or 35 "Chinks" etc. Some shipping lists do have them named. Also here many arrived via South Australia and overlanded to avoid the Poll Tax. A good book, you may have read, is the "Sojourners" by Rolls, is very good on early Chinese immigration to Australia. They had 6 children in England and immigrated to Aust in 1853. Susanna died in 1885 Qld. Susanna was born in Letheringsett, Norfolk, England about 1807/1808 but have not yet found out who her parents were. Could she be related to your Griffin?
